Zygomatic Implants in Dawsonville, GA
Did you know…
Zygomatic implants have a success rate of 97% to
98% in patients, making them a good option for people who may not qualify for traditional
dental implants.
Our Zygomatic Implant Process: What To Expect
Initial Consultation
To begin the process, your Dawsonville oral
surgeon at North Georgia Oral Surgeon will perform a comprehensive oral exam, complete with
imaging of your face and cheekbones. They will discuss all of your options for treatment, including
zygomatic implants, and help you choose the procedure that’s right for you.
Implant Placement Surgery
Once you’ve been approved, you’ll schedule your implant placement
surgery. To begin the process, your mouth will be numbed and you’ll be sedated for
your comfort. Then, your oral surgeon will create an opening in your upper jaw, and place each zygomatic
implant using a special drill. These implants anchor to the strong cheekbone, rather than the maxillary
(jaw) bone.
Immediate implant loading
After they’ve placed your implants, your oral surgeon can place new teeth right away. Zygomatic implants are very strong, so they can immediately be loaded with implants as they heal.
Healing and Recovery
After your surgery, you’ll get recovery instructions from your oral surgeon. After a couple of weeks, your mouth will feel normal. However, it may take 6-8 months or longer for your zygomatic implants to permanently bond with your bone tissue. You’ll come back to our office several times for follow-ups to check your progress.

How Do Zygomatic Implants Differ From Traditional Dental Implants?
The biggest difference is that zygomatic implants are a lot longer, since they attach through your jaw
bone and into your cheekbone. This is the primary advantage of zygomatic implants, too. Even if your jaw
bone is weak or damaged due to oral disease, you can still get zygomatic implants, since they are not
anchored directly to your jaw bone, and attach to your cheekbones, instead.
This means you can
avoid additional surgical treatments like bone grafting and
sinus lifts, which add more expense and at least 3-6 months of recovery time onto your treatment. In
some cases, this may make zygomatic implants a better option for restoring your smile in Dawsonville, Gainesville, and
surrounding areas.
Am I A Good Candidate For Zygomatic Implants?
If you want to permanently restore your upper teeth but you are not a good candidate for traditional
dental implants due to bone loss in the upper jaw, zygomatic implants may be your best option. With
zygomatic implants, you can restore your smile and your bite more quickly compared to traditional
implants with a sinus lift and bone graft, and enjoy results that will last a lifetime. Get in touch with North Georgia Oral Surgeon to learn more, schedule a
